Lance Mackey Wins 2010 Iditarod

Lance Mackey has won his 4th Iditarod in a row..!! Musher Lance Mackey (Bib # 49) arrived in Nome Alaska at 2:59 pm Alaska Time with 11 dogs. Mackey  is the first musher in Iditarod Race history to win four back to back Iditarod Championships.

Hans Gatt was a constant threat to Mackey as were other leaders in the last stages. Gatt gained steadily on Mackeys team in the latter stages, ensuring a constant battle between the two mushers and their teams.

Mackeys finishing time was 8 days, 23 hours, 59minutes and 9 seconds. He is the second musher ever to beat the 9 day time. Martin Buser still holds on to that record, however, Lance Mackey is the only one to accomplish 4 Iditarod wins in a row. And he has even said that he would be up for a fifth victory next year.

But no one has ever accomplished what Lance Mackey has: win 4 straight Iditarod Championships. Mackey did say that he thinks he’s up for a fifth in 2011........
